The Creation
In the beginning, God made a world full of light, water, animals and people — and called it good.

- Light, sky, land and sea come first
- Then plants, stars, fish and birds
A world made in order
Before anything else there was nothing at all — no light, no land, no sky. Then God began to make things, one piece at a time, and each piece had a place.
First came light, so there was day and night. Then the sky. Then dry land, with seas gathered between. Then plants of every kind, growing and making seeds so they could grow again.
- Animals of every kind fill the land
- People are made to care for it all
Filling the world up
Next came the sun and moon and all the stars, to mark the seasons and the years. Then fish for the water and birds for the air. Then every animal that walks on land, from the smallest beetle to the biggest elephant.
Last of all came people, made to care for the world and everything living in it. God looked at all of it together and said that it was very good.

A day for resting
When the making was finished, God rested. Not because God was tired, but to show that rest matters too — that after good work, there should be a day to stop and enjoy it.
That is why many families still keep one day a week for rest, for being together, and for saying thank you.
